Regione Campania is one of the leading European Regions in the circular bioeconomy. Member of the Working Group of Regions within the Italian Cluster of Green Chemistry (SPRING), it is the first Region which implemented a Law focused on Bioeconomy and Circular Economy with the launch of a Permanent Stakeholders forum.

Regione Campania set up a Competence Center in Industrial Biotechnology (BioTekNet) to strengthen the industrial biotech reserach and production in the regional territory. In particular, BioTekNet is the reference point for the development of industrial processes and technologies concerning biological systems or their components (new fermentation technologies, innovative biosensors, biosystems for water purification, industrial enzymology).
